Spellings
Spellings will be given on a Monday in your child's learning journal and should be practiced at home every night for 10 minutes, ready for their spelling test every Friday. These spellings should be practiced by writing them into sentences, so the children understand the meaning of each word. If your child misspells a word from the spelling list on the Friday test, it will be identified in their learning journal with a dot next to the spelling, so parents can see the error and continue working on it at home.
Reading
Your child should be reading daily and having their learning journal signed at home when they have read to you. Your child will receive 2 house points per day they have their journal signed, plus an extra 5 if they have their journal signed every night! Once the book has been finished, the children will have the opportunity to complete a quiz based on the book and then change it for another of their choice related to their given reading range.
Those children who read every night and have their journals signed, indicating this, will be awarded a raffle ticket. They have the opportunity to earn more raffle tickets by completing quizzes on books they have read. At the end of each term, the raffle will take place, and prizes can be won.
Times tables
A consistent focus should be given to times tables. The children in year 6 should be fluent in all times tables up to 12 and able to apply, recall and use the inverse (division) with ease. Please ensure you are supporting your child in achieving this. We would encourage children to spend 10 minutes per week on Times Table Rockstar in order to improve their accuracy and speed with these, to allow them to become more fluent.
If you would like to contact your class teacher
Please write a comment in your child's learning journal- these are checked daily, and any non-urgent messages will be replied to.
If your message is urgent, then please do contact the school office to arrange a return phone call or an appointment.
Celebration of the Word and RSHE

Being Peacemakers
As part of our Remembrance Day celebrations, we thought about the meaning of John 14:27. We discussed how Jesus came to give us peace and showed us the way to be peaceful. The class created a prayer:
God of Peace and love,
We pray for your message of peace to spread across our world and help people see its value, ending all conflict and suffering.
Protect your children from harm and guide us all to come together, seeing that we are all brothers and sisters in this world.
Help us to build a world of love and peace, in Your name
Amen.

Community
Today, we celebrated being part of a community. We gathered to listen to Nehemiah 1:6, where we reflected on how we all need to show the CST of Participation when being part of a community, showing empathy, care and love to all people.
Saint PaulWe learned about our class saint, Saint Paul. We gathered to listen to Romans 8:14-17 and reflected on how we all go through challenges, but as long as we keep strong in the challenges, we will be glorified. - Arithmetic week 4 answers download_for_offline
