PE Days
This term your child's PE day is on Friday. Please send your child to school in their PE kit on this day ensuring that all items are labelled. Remove any earring when possible, if unable, please let the class teacher know and cover the earrings with earring covers and ensure children have long hair tied up.Interventions
There will be interventions on a daily basis. Interventions are run by both class teachers and teaching assistants. These will be available throughout the academic year to support each child in their learning. Interventions will not be rescheduled if missed. For your child to get the most out of their interventions, please arrive promptly at school for 8:30.
Homework
Reading:
Your child should read daily for at least 20 minute and have their learning journal signed. They will earn 2 house points each day their journal is signed, plus 5 bonus points for a full week of signatures. When a book is finished, they can take a short quiz before choosing a new book within their reading range. Children who read every night (with journals signed) will also earn a raffle ticket, with extra tickets awarded for completed quizzes. At the end of each term, a raffle will be held with prizes to be won.Spelling:
Spellings will be given on a Monday in your child's learning journal and should be practiced at home every night for 10 minutes ready for their spelling test every Friday. These spellings should be practiced by writing them into sentences, so the children understand the meaning of each word. If your child misspells a word from the spelling list in the Friday test, this will be identified in their learning journal with a dot next to the spelling, so that parents can see the error made and continue to work on this spelling at home.Timetables:

A consistent focus should be given to times tables. The children in year 5 should be fluent in all times tables up to 12 and able to apply, recall and use the inverse (division) with ease. Please ensure you are supporting your child in achieving this. We would encouraged children to spend 10 minutes per week on Times Table Rockstar in order to improve their accuracy and speed with these to allow for them to become more fluent.
Celebration of the Word and RSHE
Generosity: This week our theme was generosity, the children reflected on what it means to give to others with kindness and without expecting anything in return. Together, we created our own ‘Generosity Flowers’, with each petal showing a different way we can share, help, and care for those around us. It was a thoughtful and creative session that helped us understand how small acts of generosity can make a big difference.
Trust:This week the children reflected on the importance of showing trust through our actions rather than just our words. The children explored what trust looks like in everyday life—keeping promises, being reliable, and acting with honesty. Through discussion and activities, we learned that trust is something we build by what we do, not only what we say.
Wisdom:This week we focused on the theme of wisdom. The children reflected on how wisdom is more than simply knowing facts—it is about making good choices, thinking carefully, and learning from our experiences. Through discussion we explored how we can use wisdom in our daily lives by listening to others, considering consequences, and choosing what is right, even when it is difficult.
