6th October 2017 Newsletter
Next Monday will be our first open morning for parents of children in particular year groups. Our first one of these is for Year 5 and will begin on Monday 9th October at 9:15am. Parents are very welcome to join us in the infant hall for bacon rolls, tea and coffee from 8:30am to allow all the children to come to class, get the register taken and get set up. A Parentpay email has already been sent to the parents of Year 5 so we look forward to seeing as many parents as possible learning along side their children so that they are better informed to support them at home.
Our parent evening will be on Thursday 19th October straight after school. An e-mail has also been sent allowing you to book your appointments via “school interviews”. Please do this in good time so that the desired appointment can be arranged. The slots are beginning to fill up!
October is Black History Month. This is something we always study here at St Michael’s looking at the lives of some of the greatest influential black figures in our society. We will do this again this year but we would really like to look at the influence of black culture on a more local level here at school. If you would like to offer any insights into your culture for our children please do just contact the school if you think you could offer your services. It could be cultural food, clothing, music or even an interesting job or career that our children would find aspirational. Thank you to those parents who have already offered their services. This initiative will go on throughout the month of October so we can be flexible re timings etc if you have a busy schedule.
Don’t forget our first Parent Forum meeting of the year is next Thursday 12th October at 9am. I’m looking forward to seeing lots of you there.
