1st December 2017 Newsletter

Well it is here– DECEMBER!! We are officially in the run down to Christmas– my favourite time of year at St Michael’s. We have lots of activities planned for this special season which are listed over leaf. The ones coming up the soonest are the Nursery and Early years nativity which will be performed on Tuesday 5th December at 2:00pm and  Thursday 7th December at 9am. After school on 8th December will be our Christmas fair. Any offers of help will be gratefully received.

I was very proud on Wednesday watching and cheering on our newly formed school football team. We beat Warren Wood Academy 6:3 with some fantastic goals. This was our first ever game and was a friendly but the boys played brilliantly, in fact both schools showed amazing sportsmanship– it was a pleasure to watch the match. Well done to both teams and thanks to Warren Wood for hosting.

Our entrepreneurial activities are well under way, Y5 will be having a cake sale after school TODAY to raise funds for their trip to the West End to see “The Lion King”. Year 3 have recorded their Christmas music CD and this will be on sale after a special singing performance from them in the hall on Monday at 3pm. The proceeds of this sale will go towards their trip to the Harry Potter Experience. The singing is beautiful, the CD’s will make great Christmas presents!

On Monday our Y6 visited St John Fisher School for their Geography themed afternoon called “ World Discovery Day”, the children experienced the different cultures of our world from art to music– they were brilliantly behaved and had a wonderful time– thank you to the staff of St John Fisher for such a lovely event

Its cold out there…. Coats, gloves and hats all of which should be named will be required!  I know we’ve had a flurry of snow this week but we will only close in extreme conditions. You will be alerted of school closure and re-opening again via Parentpay text and e-mail and we will post a notice on the school website.

Try to wrap up and keep safe over the week end
